Last Minute Volunteer Call, Picton Castle Arrives, CB1 Tonight

SSSM Volunteer Coordinator Beth Childs has sent out a last minute call for volunteers for a special event tomorrow:

We have an exciting, last-minute event that has come up TOMORROW – Wed., May 16 – and we need help!  I’m sending this request to everyone on the entire volunteer list, hoping at least one or two of you might be available.  A major photographer will be shooting in our galleries; we will need someone to assist in this project, guiding “regular” visitors, obtaining photo releases of any visitors who may be in one of the shots, and generally being a “go-fer”.

You would need to report to the Museum at 9:30 tomorrow morning.  At this point, we don’t know how long the photo shoot will take.  If you cannot do the entire project but could be available at some point tomorrow, that might also work.

Please let me know immediately if this is something you might be able to help with.  I know it is short notice, but we would be deeply grateful for anyone who can assist.

Contact Beth at volunteercoordinator@seany.org.

As we approach Fleet Week and OpSail 2012, we can expect to see some new and old faces in the harbor, and the Seaport’s own John Watson caught this shot of the Picton Castle arriving this morning. They are tied up at Pier 25 North River.

Remember that tonight at 6pm is the CB1 Meeting at Southbridge Towers Meeting Room. John LaValva of the New Amsterdam Market will be discussing their proposal to preserve and revitalize the Fulton Fish Market. The public is encouraged to attend, and details are here.
